KOL Event

Project Description

ChinaPro Marketing Partners invited five Chinese KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) to The Shops at North Bridge, which is located in Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. By inviting the KOLs, we hope to bring attention to this high-end retail mall. Our target audiences are the local Chinese, and we hope to increase exposure of the mall and brands by holding this event.

The KOLs were invited to different stores and  restaurants for experiences, they then shared their experiences and tips on their respective social media platforms. Through their social media platforms, we hope to achieve a higher level of impression by reaching the followers of these KOLs.

Participants

ChinaPro Marketing Partners invited five KOLs in total.

 

1. Lovinyoyo

  • Fashion / beauty blogger based in the Chicago area
  • Active on Weibo with around 200K followers

 

2. Tony Hu

  • Restaurant owner who founded Lao Sze Chuan
  • Active on WeChat moment with 5K friends on the platform

 

3. Steven Song

  • Mortgage agent works in the financial field
  • Active in the event organizing community
  • Active on WeChat moments with around 1500 friends

 

4. Anson Wu

  • Social, fashion and beauty influencer
  • Known for being an active socialite
  • Started a new men’s lifestyle brand, GREY
  • Active on Instagram with around 1697 followers

 

5. Elaine Wang

  • In the media and entertainment field
  • Work for an online Chinese news agency
  • A singer who held a concert in Chicago before
  • Active on WeChat moment with around 1000 friends

Location

This event was held at The Shops at North Bridge, which is located on Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. The Shops at North Bridge is one of many properties that are owned by the Macerich Group. As followed were the specific stores that the five KOLs were invited to visit at The Shops at North Bridge:

  • Eataly: a store that allows customers to eat, taste and shop for Italian food
  • Royce: a Japanese chocolate store that offers different types of chocolate and related products, including matcha chocolate and potato chip chocolate
  • Samsonite: a high quality manufacturer and retailer for suitcases and luggage, along with a full range of travel accessories
  • Diplomatic 1750: a high-end street brand consignment shop that offers special and trendy sneakers, apparel and accessories from famous brands
  • B8TA: a retailer that makes physical purchases of new and innovative technology products possible
  • Lao Sze Chuan: a restaurant that offers authentic Sichuan cuisine as well as fusion Asian entrees and dishes at a casual and trendy environment

Impact

A simple way of measuring the size of impression made by inviting these KOLs to this event and having them sharing their experience would be summing up the number of their followers.

By solely measuring the effect of these KOLs sharing their experience first-handed, the impression count would be around 209,197.
